How to Wake Up Your Sourdough Starter
Ingredients
- Dehydrated sourdough starter
- Clean glass jar
- Wood or silicone stir stick
- Filtered water
- Bread flour
- Kitchen gram scale
Directions
- Day 1: In a glass jar, mix 15g (2 tbsp) dehydrated sourdough starter with 30g (¾ cup) filtered water. Cover the top loosely so it can breathe. Wait 24 hours.
- Day 2 — second feeding: Feed the starter with 30 g (¼ cup) filtered water and 30 g (¼ cup) bread flour, then stir.
- Ready check: Wait 12–24 hours. If it has doubled in size, your starter is ready to use. If not, repeat day two.
Tip: Your starter should be bubbly and ready to make with. Keep the jar somewhere warm and out of direct sun while it wakes up.
