Ingredients

  • Dehydrated sourdough starter
  • Clean glass jar
  • Wood or silicone stir stick
  • Filtered water
  • Bread flour
  • Kitchen gram scale

Directions

  1. Day 1: In a glass jar, mix 15g (2 tbsp) dehydrated sourdough starter with 30g (¾ cup) filtered water. Cover the top loosely so it can breathe. Wait 24 hours.
  2. Day 2 — second feeding: Feed the starter with 30 g (¼ cup) filtered water and 30 g (¼ cup) bread flour, then stir.
  3. Ready check: Wait 12–24 hours. If it has doubled in size, your starter is ready to use. If not, repeat day two.

Tip: Your starter should be bubbly and ready to make with. Keep the jar somewhere warm and out of direct sun while it wakes up.
